Course Objectives
The purpose of this course is to introduce the students to the basic concepts of Operations Research techniques that help companies to solve common real life problems. Additionally, advanced techniques and algorithms that help companies as members of a supply chain to improve their performance are also presented. The main target of this course is to help students learn how to model, analyze and finally solve such problems.
Course Description
Operations research (OR) has many applications in science, engineering, economics, and industry and thus the ability to solve OR problems is crucial for both researchers and practitioners. Being able to solve real life problems and obtaining the right solution requires understanding and modeling the problem correctly and applying appropriate optimization tools and skills to solve the mathematical model. A wide range of topics will be covered including linear programming, integer programming, mixed integer programming, nonlinear programming, goal programming, game theory, multicriteria analysis and decision making models.
